James Bond Spoof

This short film is a spoof on James Bond that myself and some of my other classmates made for our DOC170 class... I also happen to act as the "female companion"

Larry and His Flask interview

I did an interview back in November with the folk/punk band, Larry and His Flask. They always give a great live show and were very interesting folks to interview. My roommate, Hanna, and I have formed Magic Panther Media... so that's the name we went by for this. We both think it turned out pretty well.

So this one time at LA Burning Man Decom...

So, I went to LA Burning Man Decompression. Let me clarify, this is not Burning Man, Burning Man, just an event where many people who went to Burning Man get together and reminisce about the good times.
This was a very interesting experience for me, it was an opportunity to learn about a culture that is not exactly the most popular in mainstream society. Even outside of the venue, "burners" (as they're commonly referred to) receive funny looks based on their... irregular dress. Wolf tails, leather leisure suits, rainbow pants, fellas dressed like ladies and ladies dressed like fellas, really just anything one could imagine. You stood out if you weren't dressed up. Here's a photo of some people:

The other interesting aspect was the dancing stage. Girls and boys alike kept jumping up onto the stage and expressing themselves through dance. Many times, this dance was rather provocative but what surprised me the most was the crowd's reaction. Instead of having intoxicated males storming the stage trying to get at the sometimes scantily clad females, there would be a roar of applause after a particularly difficult move was preformed. Here is a photo of said scantily clad woman dancing:

There were also professional dancers and performers hired. Like fire twirlers (I'm certain there is a more official name for this, but I know it not) and other scantily clad woman dancing and there would occasionally be bursts of fire:

The biggest regret I have from going to this is that my camera battery died after only a two short hours of being there... we then proceeded to be there for about seven more so I missed out on capturing so many more moments. This culture is one I plan to explore further. See more photos of the evening at my flickr account

Here is a youtube video with footage of fire dancing and stage dancing:

And the last photo of the night before my camera died:
